I own a sony dsc-s60 its a 4.1megapixel model carl zeis lens (3x I belive) Aparently I have the worst camera on the forum. I dont plan to upgrade for another year or more. Im happy with this thing. I mostly shoot project logs, family get togethers and sometimes still life (not very good for that) Nice cameras guys.
canon powershot A75 Spent about 50quid on things like memory cards, charger, batts, bag No idea I suppose I will upgrade when i find the need too it does the job fine atm maybe when 5mp is the standard for 100 pounds i'll upgrade to that.
Current cam a compact, Konica Minolta Dimage x20... which performs amazingly well for a 2mp camera. Purchased about two years ago, with a few SDcards, and a bag. Probably NZ$300 all up. Just about to purchase a Nikon D50 dSLR . My first upgrade lol.... Will cost NZ$1500, includes, 18~55mm & 70~300mm lens, 1GB SD card and Bag.
* Canon dSLR EOS 300D - paid near enough a grand for it when I got it, which was about 2 months before the 350d came out, but mine was the Ltd Edition black one in the kit, with the 18-55mm and battery grip... And technically... a Sony Ericcsson K750i.. it acts as a compact would for me... * Last year I probably spent around £200-300.. -- 50mm/f1.8, Load of 1GB CF cards, monopod, and a spare battery... This year I've spent in the region of £500, about £350 of which was spent on a lighting rig, £100 on a 70-300/f4-5.6 and the rest on filters etc.. * I'll be likely to upgrade when I get the money to buy a 20D or 30D... unless someone wants to get me a 1D However I'll be getting an olllld canon SLR as soon as I can...
Canon Powershot A60 Looking to upgrade to a 350D though as Ive always prefered SLR photography anyway.
Detailed info: only got a compact Canon camera, just for basic photos first (and probably only until it breaks) digi camera
Also quite suprised at how many people own SLRs. The manufs have obviously done well making the prices competitive. Compact: Canon Ixus 430 4MP - Birthday gift, 2004. 2 x 256MB Sandisk Ultra II Up until I'd purchased the below kit, I didn't spend anything on camera kit. Just photo paper and ink for prints. DSLR: Canon 20D + BG-E2 Grip Canon EF 24-70mm L F2.8 Canon EF 70-200mm L IS F2.8 Canon EF 50mm F1.4 Canon EF-S 10-20mm F3.5-4.5 Canon EF 1.4x TeleConverter Canon 580EX Speedlite (another soon to be added) - Plus accessories of various tripods (neotec, yay), monopods, heads, flash cords, reflectors, 2GB CF cards, batteries, several bags, filter kits, etc etc. - All bought between November 05 and February 06 at a cost of ~£5-7,000. Obviously this was a massive initial layout and wouldn't really expect that figure to continue yearly (please no!). Apart from a planned long-lens purchase which could equal spending to date (500/600mm L ), a doubler, and maybe a couple of short primes, there isn't much I want / need to add. As for upgrading, well, I'd like a second body at some point so I don't have to keep switching lenses on location, but not sure what that body will be yet. And that's as much an addition as an upgrade as they'll be used concurrently.
Canon Powershot A400 with a 128 MB SD card - fine for the family shots - amazed at the amount of SLR's around though, weher do you people find the time for all this! I have a baby and another on the way and I grab maybe an hour a day at home on the PC!
Casio QV5700. Fast, very sharp f2.0 lens by Canon, 5million pixels, Good Macro, PC-Socket (can take my Studio/Offboard Flashes), 5 million Pixels, full manual overrides, and it's chunky, yay! (Seriously, I hate tiny Camera's). Accessories are 58mm adaptor, .5x wideangle converter, and 8x512MB CF cards and Card Reader. I will never part with it, am currently photographing my first mod with it. usually get's used to show 1st time Models what they look like on a piccie before I use lots of expensive Transparency film on them (EOS1 35mm). Currently saving for EOS 1DS mkII (Pricetag shock ), with 180mm Macro lens. The Casio has never been upgraded, as it can't be. I do however spend a small fortune on Lenses, Flashes etc that can be used with both my 35mm EOS 1, and the Digital EOS when I get it. Also have Olympus C200 Zoom and Sanyo S1 for messing about, and the GF uses them occaisionally.
Currently single so plenty of free time. Also currently off work for 6 weeks (week 5 of 6 now) after an accident, but can't shoot a lot because of it. Normally I shoot mostly at events. Sister's a dancer and brother a triathlete so go to events/shows with them. Apart from that, I try and get out at the weekend, or even evening at the moment as it's light till late.
Nikon D70, with whatever zoom lens came with it Also a sigma macro lens, which is the one I actually use, although I can't remember the stats of it! As you can tell, I'm no expert!
Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 - just for quick shots really. If I need a better camera I just steal my old mans DigiSLR.
It's part of general market research to make sure the advertising featured on bit-tech is relevant and useful to you the readers. For example, you won't see Zap the Monkey ads, or "Latest Smilies" spyware banners etc. As it turns out, there are a lot of passionate digital photography zealots here. Which is not really unexpected but it's good to see the numbers confirm our suspicions. It just means that if there are any camera manufacturers or retailers thinking of advertising we can show that you guys might be interested in the latest models or special offers etc.
1. Canon EOS 350d. dSLR 2. Canon EOS Rebel 2000. Film SLR 3. Sony Cybershot P200. P&S 1. Bought it almost a year ago from Dixons Duty Free for £700 inc. an extra telephoto lens I later sold for £350 on the eBay. 2. Got 2 or 3 years ago, present from New York. 3. Bought for my girlfriend for her birthday last November. Got it by abusing a few money off things at work for £225 with a case and 1gb memory stick. 1. Probably spent £1600 on additional lenses and bits for the 350d since I bought it. Probably spend that much, if not more per each coming year on it. 2. Not spent anything on the film SLR for ages since I got a big reel of film and canisters from school a few months back, not that I use it that much anyway. Film SLR uses EF lens system so just shares the ones I get for the dSLR. 3. Don't spend any money on the P200 except for photo printing.
Fuji Finepix 2MP (about 5 years old now... was top notch when I bought it!!) 6x Optical zoom - always was the most important consideration when 2MP was the highest resolution. Want a Digi SLR, but only just coming down in price enough to consider. Perhaps interested in a 5MP compact, for parties, pubs etc... SLR is too bulky to carry around most of the time...
- JVC GZ MC200 Digital media camer. Does HD Videos and 2mp stills love it - bought a spare 4GB micro drive and a 1GB SD card gives me 9GB of Video which is over 2 hours. - Got it Feb 2005 from Singapor for around £650, 4GB micro drive £100, SD around £30-40. - Bought a waterproof bag and tripod and thats about it .
-Nikon 4300 cost about £350 when i got it around mid 2003 -2 512 cards and a syncbox for transfering to my iriver -only other accessories are a bag and a pod bean bag thing. Just incase any one cares that syncbox is the best thing i ever bought for my camera only had a 256 card for my month in NZ last year but with that box and my 20gig mp3 player managed to take 4 gigs worth of pics mostly jpgs. I may not be very good but i take lots of pics. I've got a very old olympus 2mp i use for taking drinking but thinking of upgrading to a mju for that purpose and getting replacement for the 4300 next year.
