Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 MP Compact. Pretty good quality pics, in good light. Flash basically sucks, and night/underwater photos are more of a hit-and-miss. I bought a underwater case for it (i dive) and it's pretty good there. Got 2x 512 cards for it too. Don't switch cameras often. This is actually my first digital camera ever.
My camera is a Sony DSC-P43 which is the compact type. I bought a 1GB card for it a few weeks ago which was about £23 or £24 and is the only thing I have bought for it since around the time I bought it. I don't upgrade very often, this camera is nearly 2 years old now and cost £150 when I bought it including case and an extra set of rechargeable batteries. I will probably wait another year before getting a new camera unless this one breaks before then.
Compact- Konica Minolta X50 digicam- Fuji s5000 Bought the compact cos it fits in my pocket nicely and takes good pics. Bought the Fuji because it's styled like a dslr and I wanted to know if it was worth spending loads on a proper SLR.
IMO, your not missing much. I used to sell cameras in the price range about half a year ago. The higher end Sony cams were nice, but compared to Canon (or even HP!) they were not as nice. Once you get higher up, Nikon and Canon (and others) shine out nicely. And in my opinion, the Canons shine the brightest. I went to the Calgary Zoo on the weekend and took a few photos. For those of you who never saw me link them (several times) in IRC, here is a link. They are all HIGH res. around 2 megs a pic (6 megapixel images.)
I thought you were implying you were shooting canon compact, sorry. Digital Rebel though, from your EXIF. Nice shots, but isn't your furry-cat-monkey thing more commonly known as a Lemur?
THX. and yes, I think thats right. Or at least I saw a Lemur. Not sure if it was that one though. I'd like to go back soon with some different lenses. Maybe closer to fall when its cooler and the lions are more active. EDIT: An Australian friend of mine called the first cat-rat a tree-kangaroo!
Kodak EasyShare Z740 Zoom... Plus an older Fuji Finepix S602 Zoom... Post edited to please the man with the very appropriate looking avatar!!
Canon 350D with the kit 18-55 USM Canon lens and a 1Gb CF card. Thanks to my girlfriend I didn't pay for any of it as it was a birthday present from her! Only things I have got for it so far has been a UV filter to protect my lens and a Lowepro case to keep it in. I also got a free 256Mb CF card.from a Canon special offer The Canon L lenses (like this one) keep calling out to me, but unless I rob a bank they won't be mine for a long time
Wonderful lens but, unless you specifically have need for teh IS or wide F2.8, I'd be tempted to suggest the F4 non-IS version. Not that I regret getting mine for a moment, but it is a considerable difference in price and a fair bit chunkier.
Konica-Minolta Dimage Z3. 4MP, 12x Optical Zoom. Fairly impressed with it. Previous to that, I've had a Sony Cybershot DSC-S80, Olympus C-2020z and a Fujifilm MP1200.
My Lovely Camera Minolta Dimage Z1 SLR Style 10x Optical Zoom (4x digital) 35mm-350mm I love it to pieces, i just don't get to go out and take good pictures
