So how big is it really? Plus what does it power? Also is it modular and does it have a 135mm fan or something else?

Mine was a Silverstone 650W ST65ZF-GM (non-modular) and it powered:
    a dual CPU s771 mobo
    2 Xeon E5320 CPUs
    4 FB-DIMMs 1GB each
    8600GT video card
    2 SATA HDDs
    3 fans (120mm x 2 and 92mm)
    PCI-e soundcard

    Estimated power consumption 300W

1 fan at the rear and it was LOUD!

That's it nothing else. Well until it broke and now I use a 500W Nexus PSU (non-modular), very quiet.

So what powers your computers? If multiple choose the highest rated PSU.

Corsair HX620W is what I have, this thing is so quiet, I thought after the first time I plug-it in, that the PSU fan wasn't turning, but it was.

Tagan 480W modular here - brilliant PSU, dead quiet. The only way it could be better would be to have nicer plugs at the PSU-side, they're a little sharp-edged and fiddly to get in and out when they're surrounded with the rest of 'em.

Coolermaster 620W M-Power, good "budget" PSU, compares to an HX620 the way I run it.

Hiper Type R 580w modular, a bit loud but a nice product all the same, soon to be replaced with a 620W or 650W corsair

Dell Vostro 410 which came with 350w Delta Electronics DPS-350VB-1B.

Only just has enough connectors for my needs . . . can put one more SATA HDSC in. Neatly wired in the case as standard - cables just the right length - not modular.

Power drawn from the wall plug is 14 watts standby, 117w at idle, and 167w at peak load so far.

That's with Photoshop doing heavy batch processing, ProShow Gold rendering, a virus scan running, DVD movie playing, and me doing some surfing . . . can't think how to load it any more (other than games which I don't use PC for) . . . . even with all that going on it was surprisingly responsive.

Guess - in very simple terms - until I get to about 260 watts at the wall plug, I probably won't need anything bigger for a PSU.

    The PSU looks after;
    Q9300, 4gb RAM, 2 x 1tb Seagate 7200.11, 1 x 500gb WD Cavier SE16, NVIDIA 8800GT 512mb
2 x DVD Writers, Card Reader, On board Sound & Ethernet
    1 x 120mm Fan, 1 x 92mm Fan, 1 x CPU fan

Enermax Infiniti 720W, an upgrade from the 500w Liberty that I had during the brief SFF phase.

Talk about overkill. I bet you don't even use more than 500W.

Enermax 600W PSU. More than enough power, infact complete overkill for the load I'm putting on it.

I wanted to make sure that my psu would never be an issue when adding future bits so I went for an Enermax Galaxy 1000w DXX, awesome bit of kit.

I bet he doesn't use more than 300W at full load.

I run a 500W seasonic in my main gaming rig, and a 330W rig in my server, which has up to 9 HDD's in it depending on the config of my RAID (which changes every 6-8 months). You don't need a high rated PSU to power your rig. You just need a quality one.

The 1200 watts is most definitely overkill. However, when Johnny at NZXT offered me one for my project, it was a little hard not to want the biggest they had... :D

I'm sure I'm utilizing most of the Meanwell PSU however. It's a 24 volt unit dedicated to powering the TEC cooler. (subzero temps don't come without using a little power )

A mid end tagen ~500w i think, my machine doesn't draw more than 200w from the wall though. Although my day to day machine has a 60w psu.

Antec 850W, didn't want all that power but its got what i needed, 6+2 PCI-E cables. So if i have some spare cash then SLI GTX280 on a X58 wont be such a problem...
