hell yeah, make it gray oh and I love Bas's prison bars suggestion for the fan guards inside the cuffs...
That's a good idea, let's get that planned now. I'll start painting tonight and you guys kick around the window idea. At first I thought of just using a plain square , but lately I've been thinking of having the window follow the side stripe like this: Maybe I can go with a certain shape? Let me know.
I think the painting needs alittle more life But not an easy job Maybe add a thin line of gray btw the black & white?
I cut the two blowholes for the cuffs on the front. And here's kinda what it'll look like later. How should I fill in the area around the holes?
Normally I don't post much here, but I just had to say something . First off, the paint scheme needs to be more interesting! Maybe add some stripes, etc... I photoshopped some more details on your sketch. Also, PLEASE consider changing the blocky lights on top to a nice smooth arch-shape. Look at my pic to see what it would look like. It would be really sweet if you could make them light up in the pattern that cop cars have theirs light up (red flash twice, white flash twice, blue flash twice, all three flash white twice, repeat, etc - or something similar). I'm guessing the circuit woulden't be too hard to build for that, and it would add a LOT to the case mod. I think you should use clear frosted plexi for the light, and use colored superbright LED's to light it up. The sequence in which they flash should be fairly rapid. Good luck! Image:
I do like your paint scheme, but I think too many people are getting the idea that this is a racecar and not just a plain cop car. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just so you see what's next... What should I do to fill this up? Here's some more pics of the inside......The I/O is part of the frame so I guess I'll have to cut it out. I guess this was for the HD or something? That had to go. The old motherboard was set in with built in standoffs. Obviously they never in a million years thought that it would be getting modded so I'll have to drill the new standoff holes myself. I checked my supplies because I thought I had gray paint. Turns out I just had a lot of SILVER. I'm going shopping tomorrow!
Something that just crossed my mind...maybe you could add something in the line of the 'police line - do not cross' tape somehwere in the project? Like around the edges of the windows? Or do a contour in white chalk, maybe on the window itself?
That's a good idea. The sketch looked awesome, BTW. I agree. But the graphics on many cop cars have gold stripe outlines. Maybe that could work? Or add a shield somewhere? I'm just throwing out ideas here, cause for myself, I like the plain simple bold look you have so far. I do agree the rough sketch you drew of the lights could use some design adjustments. If I was going to try for the lights ady1989 showed, I'd want it raised more, like the low-profile lights, not faired in like they drew. Or even up on brackets like on gutter mounts. Looking good!
I cut the blow holes all the way through. Then I used expanding foam for the front and back. After I shave it evenly, I'll cover up the top of it with either bondo or some type of fiberglass. We'll see.
The swedish police drove Porsche in the 70s... nice project btw, built-in standoffs are still standard in europe
The Bondo Begins!! Just thinking of the future..... I needed to clean the case so I let the rain do it for me.
I say put the POLICE stickers on the opposite side of the window going at the same angle as the white strip
Next I have some small touch up to do. I have gloves on to keep that bondo smell off me. I also took the time to remove the old Netserver logos Here is where I'm at now. I still have a little more spot bondo'ing to do.
