Its a 900, you can tell from the shape of the fairing and the fact that only the 900s actually say 900, the 600s just have 'Diversion' on them.

 

Boo. Well, I'm a poor student, so I'll be getting the 600. I'll still be yanking the handlebars up and putting 3 panniers on the back, though. I'll be the world's littlest tourer.

 

You won't need too, they're delivered this way
They ARE great comfortable little tourers, that's why they were so popular.

These are the original handlebars and cases, but I think the original crash-bar on the side is round, so this one is aftermarket.

 

I just use soft luggage on mine when I want to go somewhere... much easier as you don't have to mess around with frames for the panniers...

Btw the engine bars on them are pretty much useless, you would have to throw it down very, very hard to touch the engine. For instance my divvy got knocked over whilst parked downhill, the clutch lever broke, the footpeg broke, the indicator was crushed and the fairing frame bent, but it didn't touch the engine at all.

 

This thread's been neglected a little despite the sunshine..

Just found out the restrictor kit for my bike has finally come in so I'll be up and riding around by Thursday at the very latest.

 

Fixed that for you. I've been out riding for at least one or two hours a day for the past 11 days and the only thing I'm not grinning about is the fuel bill.

I've ridden the ER5 and with a touring screen I could ride that thing all day. The ER-6n (the new version) is also nice but a bit top heavy for my liking if I remember correctly.

So which did you go for? Also wind protection is for wimps.

Once I've given it a good clean after all this crummy rain then decent pictures will be heading here asap. There's an okay picture in the 'Latest Purchases' thread though.

Kind of hard to learn the capabilities of the bike with rain and new tyres, more than a bit timid around roundabouts at the moment, regardless I already love it to bit. Can't take it above 8000RPM though which is a shame.

Spent all day riding around Somerset on my Diversion with a friend on an XJ6N. Cheddar Gorge is amazing to ride down, though there were patches of slippery gravel which were a little worrisome. Weston prom was great, matching our engine notes to make twice the noise

Tyres are very much scrubbed in now!

There are some fantastic roads in the Bath/Bristol area which should provide you with an endless amount entertainment. I never went down Chedddar Gorge I mostly stuck to north of bath when I lived down there.

8000RPM the run in limit?

 

More importantly how far is the run-in period?

 

Well, I might have hit 9000RPM when I got a little enthusiastic, I mean, it'd be sacrilege not to thrash it

600 miles to first service then I can redline the hell out of it

 

If you don't want to stick to the run in period religiously just change the oil at 100 miles and again at 300miles (using what ever oil is recommended for the run in period) and don't push the RPM higher then the engine freely seems to go to. Doesn't damage the engine just costs a bit more because of the oil.

 

I'm almost at 200 miles anyway so I'll stick to the lower RPM for now. It'll only take a couple days to do at the rate I'm going.
