I agree with those who say deus ex and system shock. These games have such great voice acting and audio all that would need be done is render the game on an updated engine like unreal engine/source/cry-engine 3/ the new id Software engine/ etc.

More good games that had good plot lines that companies could remake with newer engine whilst keeping the audio relatively untouched are imho:

    Planescape: Torrment
    Metal Gear Solid 1
    Doom 2: Hell on earth
Mortal Kombat 1 (Bring it back)
Blackthorne (only the OG's know what I'm steppin' in about this one here)
    NBA JAM
    Final Fight

and finally... Remake and render Tetris to bring the full power of a 5970 down like crysis does.

You've got to be joking? I love Deus Ex more than almost any other game and SHODAN's voice acting in incredible, but nearly all those games have audio problems. Deus Ex's VA was terrible to almost Resident Evil levels of bad and PS:T was mainly written dialog, with very little actual voice acting. Doom 2's audio is so low quality by today's standard that it's unusable.

Honestly, you might want to look at the soundcard round-up we did a while ago if you think that audio is OK ;)...

So Crystal Dynamics didn't fix any perceived control scheme faults in the TR Anniversary remake? I wasn't even using a 360 pad in windows and I found the handling fine, though couldn't really contrast with the 1996 original where I only played a demo.

We can see what reboots are doing to movies, IE it's ruining them unless the original creator is involved and in charge, such as Miami Vice which isn't better or worse, just different. You could also argue that there are so many sequels anyway that remakes of the first game aren't needed unless they are for OS updates or to pimp a new sequel which was done with AvP and CnC.

Okay your right joe, but those sounds were bad-ASS to me when I was a kid. The sounds in Doom2 with the double barreled flintlock busting a cap into a caco daemons grill and watching/listening to his intestines spew out cheekbones was sick.

I thought JC denton and company's voice acting was top of line back then! I mean, compared to the mime Gordon freeman I think it was one of it's kind. Same with Torrment. The voice acting was so well done that when one of the characters did talk it was such a treat, and really helped illustrate the personality of the NPCs :D. I think the written diaolouge gave it an old school DnD kind of feel which gave it a more cerebral gameplay that you probably enjoyed since you commented on it... As did I.

Shodans voice was cool. But I never need to hear "silence the discord" again.

Monkey Island 1 has already been remade and is up on Steam. Monkey Island 2 is in the works - they keep posting screenshots on their Facebook page.

Well the original was Meh (seeing it now, back then it was for some reason cool), so it fits that the remake was Meh with worse actors.:D

I'm REALLY looking forward to the "A-Team" remake :grr:*

They did. That's why I mentioned it.

Planescape: Torment remake would be great but I find the artwork pretty impressive as it is, so a sequel would be even better.

Any great old game would benefit hugely from an update, even something like Beyond Good and Evil, as long as they didn't change the look or feel of it.

what about sequels to games that would of been awesome but fell short?

frankly I really want another unreal game, they kinda blundered up the second one though. I feel like epic no longer really makes games and instead make tech demo's for their engines.

and also some games I would like to simply see a remake with an updated engine, and the modern accouterments. That's why I'm so happy for the new serious sam, that was a lan party classic.
