Unfortunately some of the countries that are contesting the UK's schedules are its great white hopes for its global trading ambitions: the USA, Australia, New Zealand... Doesn't bode well for those FTA negotiations.

    True.

Probably more damning though is the reason they gave for objecting, basically we wanted to do a copy & paste (what's new) and they didn't like that as it would mean they'd lose the flexibility of being able to switch exports between the EU and the UK.

Turns out they didn't like the idea of dividing up how many tons of whatever they're allowed to sell into two separate markets, i guess they're being too pessimistic or talking the country down or something.

Probably to late, the EU's equivalent of our civil service were given their orders over two years ago and they've not shifted greatly from that initial position since then.

By the time Merkel steps down Brexit will probably be a done deal and even if it's not any new chancellor in Germany will find it difficult to change something agreed upon by 27 nations over five years ago.

Small point but roaming charges, nah, Three were doing it long before it was ever a thing in the EU. Theirs even extends to Aus and other places (using your monthly allowance that is).

But yeah, that's hardly a silver lining.

Edit: On a tangent, I'd have hoped that a website called 'theneweuropean' would make it easier to opt out of all of the company tracking and so on. Took me ages, some sites make it pretty easy.

Question: If it turns out that the referendum was bought with dirty money is it still the will of the people?

    Pahahaha.

Oh god that's fantastic. If the hardcore Brexit bunch let that pass I'm going to need to read the news article on the toilet, lest I wet myself.

May has time on her side.

The brexiters where all too happy to have the UK commit to a firm date when we would leave, so if they try to stab her in the back now they simply have no time left to work out an alternative, reducing their choices down to two: Accept whatever May coughs up or throw the UK off the cliff.

I suspect it'll be the cliff option.

Yeah, I'd wager on the cliff option too.

The amount of stupidity involved here is so massive that the cliff option is most certainly guaranteed.
