They know their's a credit crunch on right? Looks like we'll have to sell a kidney to buy one and kit it out!

    Overkill? Not really

It all depends on what the end user wants it for. Im sure video encoding will be stella on this machine. And as for folding enthusiasts this could be a great all in one system, allowing some folders to reduce the number of folding pcs and noise without harming their PPD.

James I was curious when you reviewed the dual processer xeon system ages ago, wether or not you managed to overclock it? If not through the BIOS perhaps a windows based tool?

Im quite sure too that if this thing overclocks well James will be first to get one up and folding.:D

    This is complete overkill.
No doubt on the wallet, too.

Blimey, that is a serious motherboard.

Although, given the current trend of GPUs getting longer, isn't it a bit silly to place the SATA connectors where they are?

think about it - this power will be mainstream in 5 years - so just wait and buy it from Currys built into a fridge...

I should change my avatar to a grammar Nazi - sorry James.

Still, this really is a folders dream. I'm very interested to see what the final product will have in store.

All we need is a few people to get these and fill them with single-slot Nvidia cards and we can take first spot in the folding charts! come on guys, take one for the team!

Unfortunately no, I've spent a long time playing with Windows apps and BIOS editors but haven't been able to overclock any of the current generation Xeon boards.

However, recently, some Asus BIOS engineers have been in touch with me about this very subject, so there might be some good news on this front soon :)

Would love to see what sort of 3d mark score and folding score one of these would give when fully loaded with gpu's and ram. Would be a fun project for someone with a few million in the bank.
