Near? depends on your definition of near
40 miles to the M25 as a crow flies, 60 miles by car to the same spot

Main problem with 446 and 27Mhz is the distance, unless someone is using an amplifier we don't get a lot, I do hear lorry drivers and and down the A34, and M4 from time to time
    466Mhz usually 2 miles, 27Mhz from 2 to 15 odd miles

I use the SDR with a magnetic loop, giving me better reception HF frequencies (from all the nasty electronics around)

Reason i ask is just outside London towards Essex there are few Guys (getting on in years) that sit on channel 35 & 39 of the UK CB band that are convinced that CB radio is making a come back.

Yet since lockdown they have just spent that time talking to each other.

I have seen a massive increase in CB Radio take up in the past 2 years, so may be true
Thing is, it is usually South Wales and up North which have the biggest user base
Not the 80's for sure, but more than there was

Went on a bit of a keyboard-buying rampage & ended up with two MX Blue TKL boards, then got the little white 60% with box jade switches, and lastly at the bottom is the new kid on the block, the Cooler Master MK770. It came with box reds but I've ordered box whites for it. The big board at the back is an old Gamdias monstrosity and I think I'm going to harvest the MX Black switches from it. Not included in the picture is the Keychron K8 which I'm currently selling!

All sorts of hardware dev stuff. I'm designing my own motor driver to build into a product, possibly going to sell, so needed dev tool and a second design to support it all. It's been a lot of fun to do design work for myself!

Can of Lamborghini Mauve Thirty paint, 2 x 3m reels of tiny silicone wires, wireless soldering iron, Sloting+ universal guides, 2 sets of replacement tyres for 90s Scalextric cars, 2 sets of decals - Ferrari and Lamborghini. set of new axles, crown gear, and 2 sets of rear axle bearings.

Currently working on restoring and modifying 3 90s scalextric cars, a Jaguar XJ220 (nearly done, just need a couple of new wires), a Ferrari F40, again nearly done, just need to remount the front axle and fit a new wider rear one, and a Lamborghini Diablo which needs a new set of "glass" and some internal modifications to fit some of the new bits and pieces.

2 expertly 3D printed lens adaptors courtesy of our own @Byron C
I can now use some old and unusual lenses on my Nikon Z mirrorless camera.
It is incredible what you can design, create and modify at home with previously unaffordable and inaccessible technology.

The printer's the one that did all the work there, not me

Speaking of which... probably time to give it a bit of a clean & tune up this weekend - lubricate everything, check belt tension, adjust bed tramming, etc. At the very least, the bed plate definitely needs a clean!

Bought it a while back but my Switch 2 arrives tomorrow. I've not played on a console for years but for family events and Holidays just playing on my own the switch seems decent.
