Update 11 Because I am working on the nails of its legs. And I have no time to past the iron farmer. So, I go further with the nails. There we go again with the burner. Now it is red-hot, and not purple on the photograph. Again a couple hits with the hammer. The nails for its second leg are ready. Right further with the nails for its wings. Because these are shorter, the first time it comes so far. Stoke it two times red-hot and you are there. Polish it a bit and it start looking like a nail It is some work, but I have them. I cut the nails are under an angle of 10 degrees to get much contour as possible. Where I need this now for? The answer. With the nails. To the following update.
In the meantime I have been at the iron farmer. The last bits tube are there. Right bends. This needs I for its wings Attach you that then to the rest, then get you also a picture of whole. 2.7 meter broad. Seen as from the other side. And the two claws are back on them place. Seen as from the other side. Still a total shot with its claws. Still 1 or 2 updates concerning the frame and then we going direction the polyester
Wow, that's again amazing good i see ! And again verry big I hope this case would be more beautiful than the Lian Li you've made last year. Thubs up !
Update 12 In this update the points for the wings. The ends of the wings must be sharp. A colleague of me (Cor) has a turn bank and I could use those. No cnc machine I can not work with a cnc machine. Bore firstly And than hours working. Also a long way to go. I must finish that point. I know it is risky to put it out so far. I mod pc.s, but my colleague Cor mod a turn bank from the previous century. He expected that I work many hours. And this way it goes more rapidly. And this goes also faster than by hand. After 5 hours work this is the result is. 6 points. The 4 thin points come natural to its wings. Sharpen a slanting side firstly Then is it only weld. Then polish it so that the weld is gone. The space which was there is now full with metal. Without the slanting side it breaks easy. And the points are there. Now put around 30 mm to an angle. That becomes to sweat. Make it hot Then you take a tube, forget the hammer for this. And then draw time. Then under the saw. If your look good, you see you steam from the iron. And again weld. A closer look to the weld around 30mm to a plate from 1 mm This way gradually the frame is almost finished (phase 1)
@Customhole, Thanks for the best of luck I can only do my best to make this to a god result. I use red led’s in his eyes. The eyes from the bat are red to. For the window in his body I use different colours.
With those menacing wings it's definately looking less like a duck now and more like the bat it's meant to be. I didn't realize how big that thing was. 2.7m wingspan!!! That will certainly fill your desktop.
The metal job is almost ready. Some little thinks to do. First making 12 teeth’s. I bust bent these also. Around 10 you can bend fortunately without make it red-hot. To keep just as long, I saw them with the machine. The first 4 teeth’s sits. And the rest also now. Also from the other side. For the last time using this machine. I almost hate this machine And this sits also where it must sit. The back of the pyramid will be covered with a window This way gradually the frame is almost finished (phase 1)
Update 14 And I started with the polyester This is the beginning of much polyester. To smoothen it, I use a paintbrush Also for under his eye I use a paintbrush with some thinner. This way the steel disappears slowly. When you see it from this distance it looks good. But from a closer look……. A lot of work to do. But I have a machine to help me with that job. This way it goes faster than by hand. After I finished that side, I start with the polyester. To fill up some parts. And use the paintbrush again. First part done. And the second part. Put some polyester over it, and it starts to look. From the backside, I have no example. This is my own creation. I took from Star Wars( a darth vader look.)
Now the form of its cheek it coarsely sees, it is time to make the bumps. Building up bit by bit. On the largest part sit the first intention. After a number of layers the form begins to come. Bring with a brush in model. After that it’s Hardend. I can begin with the sheds. Firstly the shed disk After the grinder the file. Rub after the file with the hand. First some rests after the rubbing. Then I shall show you why I choose for a fixed connection. On the image, it walks away slant. That must happen also here I don’t do it with idfiller, but only with idfibre. The first lay sucks I known, just telling before you say it to me This has to harden, I going to make everything what bended is straight. It is producing a lot of heat because it is welding thick @ thin metal. That is why the thin metal is bended Fortunally I could make it straight On top nail (Just calling it that way ) stretch a thickening that must also be on here. With a stiff plastic and a brush you come a whole end. With a brush, I finish it further. Also this sits well in the direction for the first intention. On the Top Photograph you can see it attached @ his leg. Now a better Photograph After a while I am happy how it looks the peaces of fibre are allowed to stick out, I can grind this away in sec Everyone @ his leg Meanwhile the first layer is hardened. Time to start the second layer I already finished the id with a grinder. Than there always places you cant use the grinder, there we use the Dremel for. Not yet Finished but I am getting there soon now. See ya soon.
@faind, I do not count the hours of these mod. @klikka bZerk, thnx. @^pirate, also for me it's a bizarre project.
In this Update I am getting further with the back of the Head. First putting the grinder on it. After the grinding I am able to plaster. Also the other Half. Still there are places you cant reach, so we use the brush ( again ) This has to cure, so then further with the claw of its wing. First removing some material with the dremel Again sop it in with the brush Meanwhile the plaster on its head has cured, so now file. Where the file cant reach, the dremel does. Almost forgot to tell that between the layers of plaster I degrease it with thinner. On the top photograph you already could see it. So also this needs to touch up. Also the top wasn’t good enough imo so one last layer on top of here. This also has to cure so @ the back the side of its wing grinding. Also here the Dremel comes in handy again With a good plasterknife i try to put as much plaster on it as possible For the Top…… yes the brush Then grinding the head again There is still a bend in it but I will get this fixed too Imo the side is getting its shape. So slowy we get a supply of toxic waste
