I use my old coolermaster for this, works a dream. Good for leak testing too :) I'm surprised something went, after how many cycles did it die?

It depends on what setup you want. If you plan to fit in big rad like a triple or quad rad, than a big case like 800D or TJ07 is the way to go.

If you are just want to do normal water cooling, 690 II can fit in up to 2 x 240 rads. I'm using 690 II myself with this setup and very happy with it.

Cheers Aliff. Im only planning on cooling my GPU and CPU, with 1 loop. So either a double rad, or perhaps a triple.

The important thing for me is that it is TIDY, and has a window. As long as i can cable it up perfectly and not have any clutter on show then im happy. Another reason why i think i prefer drive bay res.

The RAMGuy over at the Corsair forum said they weren't designed for switching on and off 1/2 dozen times a minute.

Hmmmm true. Why not pop it on, wait 30 seconds, then off, wait 30 seconds, ect?

These just popped up on the radar:

2x Thermochill PA120.3 Triple radiator (like this but the 24.5mm spacing version) - Used
1x Thermochill PA120.2 Double radiator (like this but the 24.5mm spacing version) - Used
    2x D-Tek DB1 Pump (this) - Used

Is the 24.5cm spacing on the rads really a problem?

and is the pump any good for my dual drive bay res?

The spacing only matters if you're planning to put it in a dedicated rad mount in the case as the pre-drilled screw holes won't line up. It will also have the 3/8 threads on the rads. I'd get the triple if you do decide to go for one. Those rads are one of the best available.

The pump is adequate, doesn't have masses of pressure but will work for a simple loop. It won't mount in the bay res but is reasonably small.

Pete - I've now added a separate switch box with molex connectors on either end so the PSU is permanently powered and the worst I can do is knacker the switch which is easily replaced.

A cunning plan, do you really have use for it that much though?

I'm a tinkerer. One of my loops stays pretty much untouched. The others I fit, refit and test parts frequently. I also do some builds for a recording studio. Bear in mind that I've gone through 7 gallons of water and also I often reuse the water if it hasn't been in the loop long.

I suppose i wont know whether its a problem until i know what case im going to use. Hmmmm.

Pump wise there is also that D4 for sale (£25), but not sure whether that will cut the mustard and suit the drive bay res i want to use.

For £25 I'd seriously think about the D4.

With the rads it depends on whether you want to drill extra holes (and somehow mask the pre-drilled ones) or maybe just think about hanging a rad off the back.

Will it be suitable for the XSPC dual drive bay res? If so i think i might go for it

If you are going to use a double res in the drive bay and a separate pump go for the combo, it'll save money and it's no hassle fitting it .

I think aiming for a rad with 15mm spacings is best, as it's basically the standard :)

Yeah its a good deal, but it makes things a little more complicated for me, as you can quite plainly see i dont know where to start with watercooling!!

SoooOOoo now i need a pump to sit in it, and the D4 is available at the moment. But im happy to wait if its not ideal.

Well once you get going with it I'll give you my number, so any probs and I'll be able to talk you through it. Plus you've got the whole forum to fall back on, so I think you'll be ok. Just take it slow and you'll soon realize it's not that difficult.
