    It's cruel to make a cat wear a bow-tie.

To continue the theme, TIL that they're toughening MOT rules; those with gutted DPFs beware!

TIL that openmediavault wasn't playing funny buggers with my path permissions, SABnzbd was... I hadn't set the proper permissions for completed items, so automation clients were filling up their log files with "Access Denied" errors...

EDIT: Linux permission settings can be a PAIN IN THE BALLS sometimes...

TIL.. Anchovies are extremely salty. Never had them before, felt like I was going to have a heart attack after eating one. I also learned that it’s because the way they are cured in massive amounts of salt.

Shame. I liked them, but the salt killed it :(

Wash them in milk, and then treat them like a condiment, something akin to mustard.

A little bit to enchance the flavour etc.

TIL about colour constancy. Both grey squares are the exact same colour (trust me, I had to take it into Photoshop before I believed it). Because of the surroundings in each image, the brain interprets the colours differently and tells you that the left one is a cool grey whilst the right one is a warm grey.

Image is taken from James Gurney's book Colour and Light.

On my phone if you cover the other colours with your hand you can tell it’s the same colour as the other grey. Proper messed with my head that did :D

Visual perception is absolutely amazing stuff. The ways that the brain interprets what we see are fascinating.

TIL.....That there is a sport where two men one lying on top of the other hurtle down an ice tube on a metal tray on skids, looks a bit pervy.

TIL freelancers are legally entitled to charge a £40 late payment fee if an invoice they've sent out hasn't been paid within 30 days, or £70 for between £1000 and £9,999 under The Late Payment of Commercial Debt (Interest) Act (1988) which was amended in 2002 to include fixed penalties in addition to interest.

Odd that I learned that seeing as I'm not a freelancer, nor have I used one.

Thought somebody may find it handy.

A lolite pointing out of the law can work wonders in many circumstances.
