got it a couple days ago, haven't really gone out to take any pics with it (waiting on the hood and polariser to turn up. The test pics i've taken so far show immense potential, and the performance just blows the wide end of my 17-85mm away completely.
* Fuji FinePix S7000 Prosumer (non SLR) * Canon Ixus 40 * Bought new memory cards and a bad for both. * No plans to upgrade the digital as myself and the gf have started getting into film and have purcahsed 2 Canon EOS 5's, 2x Canon 28-80 USM lenses and 1 Canon 75-300 USM lens
Panasonic FZ20 Bought an FZ5 when they first came out sold it to buy a 300D, decided I still realy liked the Panasonic so sold the Canon to buy the FZ20.
I own a lowly compac point & shoot machine, the Canon Ixus 800 IS. Its pretty sweet, and has some options for playing with ISO etc but I never touch them as I don't understand them. I have to admit though, after reading the guide thing on here, I'm more interested in F stops, ISO, white balance etc... Its all just so confusing!
Just grabbed a Canon 300D and I have a Vivitar 5388 5meg P&S As for spending and upgrades, this is my first real step into camera stuff, so we will have to wait and see on that one.
Olympus e-500 dSLR with 14-45 and 40-150 kit lenses. Have spent around 100 pound on bag and 4GB flashcard (Transcend high speed variety. Can highly recommend. Is very quick and costs less than 2GB Extreme III from Sandisk). The lenses are OK for now as am fairly new to this. I also want to see what happens with the 4/3 system over the coming year. If we don't see many more takers, then I may consider a change of system to Canon or Nikon at a later date. Regardless, the e-500 is very light for a dSLR making it a nice walkaround camera. Planning to get a decent tripod and polarising filter soon and maybe a spare battery. If I'm gonna get a new lens, it'll probably be the Sigma 18-50 f2.8. Looks like a nice lens, only there seems to be a little uncertainty about whether the autofocus will work with 4/3. 8-ball
You demoed it on an olympus or another camera? What did you think. Seems to have slightly better optics than the Zuiko digital 14-54 with large aperture throughout the zoom range, and it can be had for 200 pound less. Seems a no brainer really. Especially as the Sigma lens has picked up several accolades since it's launch. Cheers for the input. 8-ball
The 4/3 system WILL pickup... how do I know? because i'm waiting for the Panasonic L1 dSLR. And that uses a Leica 4/3 system Lens. Sigma already have 4/3 lenses coming out but with Leica and Panasonic entering the market I have a feeling 4/3 might not be over shadowed as much by the Nikon and Canon systems.
Yep, was really impressed with the clarity of the sigma range as a whole. expecially the lens i was looking at, certainly seem to making a U turn over the old UC days. In some cases the EX range is better than the manufacturers own range, mostly cheaper too. P.S. I wasn't buying it, was looking at it as a possible compact slr for walks but i'm not a fan of olympus anymore (sensors are too small and noisy), i'll stick with my D2X I did buy the 17-35 f2.8/4 while was there though, it's an amazing lens
I've already voted but I thought I'd update with the news that I recently got a Nikon Coolpix L2. I'm still stunned by how small it is in comparison to my Powershot S2 IS and even my Powershot A40 dwarfs it!
Had an old kodak 4335 3.1 Mp, sold it and got a Canon S2-IS like 2 months ago with tube adapter, filter and hood. I already have my sights set on a Nikon D-80 with 18-135 lens... Soon i hope drewl... (i have to convince the wife that i need it to live loll)
An upgrade for me aswell. Got a Canon 400D + 50MM F1.8 on friday. On saterday I got a used 17-40 F4 L ! L
