Sorry bout the slow updates, been landscaping the backyard.

Transferred the design to a piece of spare Aluminium I had laying about, and began to nibble it.
Progress was very slow, 2 days in total.

    (Monday)

    after 2 hours...
    after 2.5 hours..

    after 1 hour...
    after 3 hours...
    after 5 hours...

Bit messy, time to clean it up.
WD 40 and 400 grit wet and dry, just gave it a 30 min sand, nothing too serious. Sanded both sides.

    Bending...well an attempt at that.

I started with this attempt, but it failed, so I re did it, then gave up , I couldn't bend it without it warping, then using pieces of wood and a hammer, i beat the **** out of it till I was happy, then used a piece of wood to straighten out the rough spots.

I'm pretty happy with it, its not pro looking but I don't think it looks like crap either.

Now to test fit it over the External Rom Device...

    That's fantastic!
When I first saw this the instant thought was: Polished outer over matt black.
But I think you have different plans and no doubt will still look terrific. :thumb:

Thanks for the comments guys/gals :) I'm going to sum it all up as you've all pretty much said the same thing...

"You have an idea...and you think its the best idea the modding universe may ever see...you can visialize it, to the point it's believable ... and you've been looking at the people you want to aspire to being like, because in your eyes, they are the real mod gods, and they make it look easy, but infact its not, some things are so far out of reach its saddening, but you persist none the less. You keep coming up against brick walls in your project, and these can be simple walls to gigantic walls, so you try a different approach after different approach till you find something you can actually achieve, and it's not like 'how the pro's do it', but you hope people can see that you bled for it.

So if your looking through my eyes, it's not pro, but I bled to make it look pro. (whether I succeeded or not, can only be told through your eyes).

On an upside thanks for the positive comments, they are greatly appreciate and your words do make a difference with this project.

    UPDATE (Continued)

If you remember from the last post, I had 'FUGGDIVINO' on the design of the External Rom, but once it was all cut out...it wasn't there, this is because the dremel tip I assumed I had, I didnt, in fact I broke it, to be expected when I've been using the same bit for 3 yrs, so it never made it into the design.

I knew that I wanted 'FUGGDIVINO' somewhere on this project, so the only other option was to use the same red acrylic that's on the main case, and whilst cleaning up my shed...I found some.

    The Design...

    Glued design to acrylic...
I attached a 3mm drill bit to my dremel. (I had to improvise) and cut out my design.
    Then flame polished it...

Cleaned it up, I also used Chrome Tint on the back each piece and instead of cutting out the area where the letters are, I left them.

With both pieces now done, these will be attached to the left and right side of the outer casing of the External Rom by means of double sided tape.

    Example...

Yeah I understand that creators are generally harder on themselves... I'm the same way. But really all your work has been looking amazing. It's definitely given me some ideas. I think the layering creates such a sweet effect.

After going through all the process's I left the sanded gunk on the External thingy, then used another sheet of 2000 to polish the Aluminium up, not to the point where I wouldn't need to use Mother Polish, but to halve the process of using Aluminium Polish.
It's safe to say, that one could use this process without ever needing to use Aluminium Polish to achieve the same effect, but Alu Polish saves a lot of time due to the grit it is. (hope that made sense)

Using Mother Polish - roughly 8 hours of hand polishing. I can see myself in it, so it is reflective.
In hind sight I wish I had of used a new piece of aluminium when I did this, there's a lot of imperfections, on top of the hammer marks, so I found really hard to polish some spots.

Added the acrylic logo's to both sides and then fastened it all to the Eternal Drive which i have painted satin black.

    Various angles.

Do you guys/gals think its ok, or would the thingy be better in white?.
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
