Does having the coolers in such deep channels affect how much cooling they end up with? That would be a mod I would love to give a shot.
O...M...G!!!, I can't believe I missed the start of a new oldnewby mod! Curse you University. Looking awesome so far my friend, fabrication is as amazing as always and the design and implementation is astonishing. Keep up the awesome work, congratz on your MOTM nomination and +rep for the awesome work so far.
Hey, saw this on the MotM. I also saw your fans. If you weren't going for the turbine look, then they look awesome. But if you were, YOU'RE DOING IT ALL WRONG!!! DX Turbines look like turbines because of the blades, not the cone. Straight blades make turbines, cones do not. -Nos
I think it's just called a turbine mod (putting the cone on the fan hub). It's not really supposed to look like a real turbine.
Thanks for the comments. And nice to see you here B4oz. Regarding the "turbines". I merely wanted to make a "kinda like", "evocative of", "similarish looking". Get the picture? Maybe I did use the the wrong word to describe the look the I was after, maybe they look like giraffes. I just wanted to make some chunky and interesting fans that you can't go out and buy. When their spinning they will be indistinguishable from a turbine as you won't be able to see the shape of the blades.
You know you are waaaaaaaayy too obsessed with modding when stuff like this starts going through your head...
There is not such thing... *looks at the many scars and mutilated fingers which I thought would look better with a exacto blade sticking out of them...*
Hahaha, I shouldn't touch this but.......................................................................... No, I'm just not going to. If you remember, I've been working on the various ducting to stuff all the cables into. So enough time was available (in small bits here and there) to complete the inside or back or underneath, I don't really know what to call it, but it is the part that won't be seen and will be covered up. So first a section needs to be removed from the large rear channel so that the 24 pin, SATA connectors and case fan connectors can bend down into and then sit in the channel. Like so. Then a lower or rear cover needs to be made for this area from some 20mm "U channel". I probably could have routed the part but this was quicker than setting up the router. Then drilled, tapped and screwed to the main channel. Then all the pieces were bolted together........ And put back into the chassis. It's not a very pretty stage of the build but necessary and will reap dividends later on when the covers are made. Hopefully, the motherboard and other parts will be visible but nearly all cables and connectors will not. Back soon.
