On todays project were going to to working on the weatherng and painting effects.

The materials that I'll be using:

    Tamiya Acrylics

    Primer/sandpaper

    Tamiya Thinner

    Painters tape

    Size 0 liner brush

Iwata HP-CS dual action airbush with compressor.

    Lets Get Started!

The first and most important step to a quality paint finish is a good primer coat.
I choose to spray my primer through my airbrush giving me greater control of paint and air volacity.
If you choose to use a spray can method I recommend Rust-oleum automobile primer or Krylon wet sandable grey primer.

I begin adding light coats and slowly building up my layers and doing a light sanding between each layer as I progress.

After about 3 coats of light primer and some light sanding my project is ready for its first coat of paint.

Mixing approx 3 parts German Grey with 1 part flat black into my airbrush I start laying down my shadow effect.
This layer will play an important step later on when we simulate a wet and weatherd look to the steel.

Now adding a touch of Model Masters Rust into the mix we can begin appling the second layer of weather effects.

Im looking for a very muted rusty grey color at this point. Were slowy building up are layers on top of one another to create contrast and depth.

Now with our second layers added, the project begins to take on some depth, and realism

I work my all around the front of the case applying these effect to create a good color composition and harmony.

Now Ill add a little more rust and black into my mixture to darken up the effect a bit more.
This layer will gives the first "textures" of rust and corrosion.

As you can see in this shot where the darker mixture bleeds into the V-groove and along the edges where water and oil will gather naturally.

Be very careful with this layer, less is more. If I were to go overboard on this layer then I'd lose the constrast of that first Shadow layer I put in and Id have to repaint these step over again.

In this shot Ive added some metallic paint to the top of the genertaor tower.

Now with the first 3 layers complete ( 1 Shadow),( 2 Rust),( 3 Darker Rust/corrosion) I can begin working on my detailed paint effects.
Im going the be adding graphics to the oil pipe line and a sub-level 02 sign to the power/reset tower.
I first bein by laying down my first graphic color then mask it off then the next color until I have all my layers built up.

Ill use several different colors and mask to achieve a final look.

With the masking removed to can see the final product. Some more weathering effects will be needed to bring out the realism.

As you can see from this end that these tubes are hollow.Ill be using these tube to carry all my cables that will go into this build.

And another shot of the pipeline.

In this frame you can clearly see the sub-level 02 sign that I added the power/reset switch.
I also began adding gunmetal paint clips and scratches to the oil pipeline as well as watermakes in some of the rivet hole.

Now using my size 0 liner brush mixed with liquid smoke and rust, I start adding small streak marks and water stains all around the rivet holes and in all the creases.
With out that first shadow effect applied ,this effect would only have a wet look, but with that first shawow layer it gives the suggestion of areas that have dried and corroded

You can see that effect along the bottom of the pipeline support in these frames.

Then as a final layer I load a buff color in to my brush and spray over the entire piece washing out the paint giving it a sunbleached and weatherd feel.

In my next update I'll begin working on the left wing wall, front panel audio,USB and firewire inputsUntil then

    Stay Inspired and keep Creating!!

    Coming this Week!
Front Panel USB and Audio assembly

Heres at look at what I have planned for the front panel USB and audio.

I'm going to use these T-Virus Viles from the Resident Evil movies as part of the mod.
Even though these dont fall into the scale of my build I think they might be a cool addition.

This is the front panel Audio and USB I"ll be using for this stage of the project.

I'll be using the round modders mesh from as part of this front panel assembly. Bill Owen sent me this great product to incorporate into my build and I'll be using this in other parts of this build as well.

    http://www.mnpctech.com/moddersmesh.html

Here a look at the general idea I have for the project.
I'm going to create a small chamber built from lexon glass with a frosted acrylic backing.
The round modders mesh will cover the frosted acrylic and act as a backing to the chamber.
Ill either etch or create a vinyl biohazard logo that will be applied to the frosted acrylic then back lit.
As for the T-Virus Viles and the audio/usb panel,I'll build small mechanical arms that will suspend these within the chamber.A front door panel attached to an audio hub will give a voice warning whenever the chamber is opened.

It should be a exciting feature .

    Stay tuned!!

Thanks everyone for your support and following this build.

This case will be watercooled! The T-Virus viles are going inside a chamber thats going to hold my front panel USB and audio.Im searching the net now to find a voice servo that I want added to the panel,it will give a hazard wring when opened.

The reservoir idea sounds very interesting. I 'm still playing a bit of catch up with the vids. The effort you put in to them as well as your work log are greatly appreciated. The idea generator is a full auto :D
