Must be VM's cache, not enough iPhone 3G owners in this end of Leeds...

Echo that, looks like iPad updates primarily. Wonder if they fixed the alarm glitch on the british summertime change.

    Here's what's in 4.2:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4456

Worth updating no matter which iOS device you have IMHO, if only for the bug fixes & free "Find my iPhone" service. But AirPlay is well worth it. Stream music (and video, if you have an ATV) to any AirPlay device.

Also: Other methods to restore AirPrint functionality to shared printers, without monkeying around with the OSX printing files. Will cost, though:

You can log in with your standard apple account - I did, and I don't pay for mobile me.

The find my iPhone portion of the MobileMe service in now free. You don't need a full MobileMe account to use it.

Yeah, rest of the office just discovered that.

    Unfortunate.

    For them, I mean.

Just on my way back from the apple store. My "Launchday" iPhone 4 which has travelled to China and back, is now back in the hands of it's makers. The sensor on the front just never really worked propperly. I could watch the screen switching on out of the corner of my eye. Then my face would hang up the call or mute or hold or put the call on speakerphone. Drove me mad. I was updated to 4.2.1 and that still didn't help. It also had about 5 dead red pixels on the edge of the screen and the touch screen used to randomly go out of calibration. Pretty shocking for a £600 phone.

So anyway I have the replacement which I'm typing this on. It's running 4.0.2 and so far (I've only called my voicemail) the sensor seems to be working just as the one on my 3G did. Perfectly, all the time. We'll see if it keeps it up though. Gotta hand it to apple though on the lovely customer service. The guy could tell I wasn't taking any poop. So he said the best way to guarantee you get a working sensor is to get a new one. Which he gave me.
So I have a brand new one. I wasn't up for taking another blooming refurb. I had 3 3G returns and they all broke.
Anyway. I asked the guy, if the problems continue what's the policy for getting rid of this phone and going to a working phone. He said talk to vodafone. Spoke to them and a guy with a very chavvy accent told me that it would have to be faulty 3 times and then I could take it up with vodafone customer service. Not completely sure about that given the phone is not fit for purpose (as a phone) if it Connor reliably make phone calls. But things seem positive for now.
I was surprised how quickly the guy offered me a replacement. As soon as I said it was the sensor he was like "so would you be happy with a replacement?" I was like "whoa that was quick" and then said no no really because it'll be a refurb and my experience has been terrible with them. So he told him about the history of it and he said hold on and then got mRNA brand new one out of a retail box. He said "we're not supposed to do this but it should guarantee you get a "new type sensor"" which basically confirms there are a batch with dodgy sensors.
Anyway, I'll keep testing and see how it goes.

I have the same issue with the calls being dropped due to the sensor, When im in the middle of a call with it cuts it off or goes to facetime or contacts.

Ill have a see at what the apple shop says about this, if you've gotten a replacement then ill try my luck.

ipad printing works on windows with any printer with that hacked together AirPrint service YAY. It suddenly became marginally more useful than it was before (which still makes it pretty useless, lol)

I've found a serious issue which may involve scenarios such as the sky falling on our heads.

Today, the weather forecast app is forecasting that snow will be falling upwards.

    The evidence:

I suggest finding out where your nearest nuclear bunker/cellar/cupboard under the stairs is and stay there until it's safe.

I can't see anything in itunes for copying any type of file, such as txt or even pdf

Besides that, I don't have an itunes account, and I'd rather not have to get one.... I never imagined that it would be so hard to get a a few photos and files onto a modern phone :wallbash: There are also a few word and excel files I want to get on there.... is that gonna be possible or will I have to convert them to pdf

Yes, I was an iworld virgin
